Part 1: What Path Will You Choose?
April of this year, I'll hit two years of starting beer, wine, & spirits and the time has literally flashed before my eyes. I have met some amazing people, made new friends, and learned so much through my experiences in different cultures and all the challenges that I have faced while on this journey.
Everyday I am thankful for each and everyone of you that believe in me. I think about the past two years and I'm living my dream, my purpose, the life I want to live, but today could be a lot different had I chosen a different path.
I remember this picture of me in front of one of the most elaborate temples in Petra, the Al-Khazneh in Jordan. What's interesting is that looking back at this time it served as a crucial moment for me and what my next move in life was going to be.
While walking through Petra I pondered staying in the military or retiring and starting something new. Would I stay in the military, something I knew and loved? It would require another 6-10 year commitment, more deployments. It was a constant battle and conversation in my head.
As the sun was setting and I over-looked this amazing city, I realized I felt most alive when I traveled and while the military is one of the best decisions I made in life, it was my time to have the feedom to feel most alive. This is one of the first of many decisions I made in starting my journey of beer, wine, and spirits that I will be sharing with you. Next is Part 2: I found what brings me alive, now what?
